Within a circle
that stretches endless miles around
the cleansing force of devotion
cast in the mold of Egungun.

In the older faces, flicker the mysteries of walking this ground quietly
and humbly
without losing step.
Visions and dreams are their wings.
Teaching, hinting admonishing
“This is our way of Living.”

From many countries, Ancestors are
gathering here in the circle, so close
that the Asadua cloth of one brushes against
the Aseesenti of another
until the expression, intent, momentum
are the same.

The languages melt and form one message
of past, present, and future.
and the voices are a testament.
This is a continuum of life
and the kingdom of Axum
and the city of New Orleans
and WE
and endless trek of life
as human, as African
heading towards God’s end
to begin all over again.
