They introduced a level of violence, tribal mistrust and economic despair to Africa that is unrivaled. Comment on Eepa Oya O!: Ol’Oya Speaks Out by Ms Nike Newton http://www.rootsandrooted.org/?p=53&cpage=1#comment-1394 Ms Nike Newton Wed, 07 Sep 2011 12:00:02 +0000 http://www.rootsandrooted.org/wordpress/?p=53#comment-1394 It is refreshing to learn that our African ancestors are being recognised globally through the new technology. It makes me believe that civilisation started from the Egyptians first and not the Greeks. When we have an unusual catastrophe in Nigeria, the first point of call is to ask the ancestors through the 'oracle'. The recommendations are always precise and accurate.I would imagine that Sango is and was 'oba koso'. The 'Moremis' are cunning and also human. Africa is the mother of multinational babies. To say that "Wherever Christianity and Islam go an intolerance for indigenous practices follow" is an UTTER falsehood. First, The Arabs THEMSELVES have Traditional Practices that they adhere to, while being adherents to Islam. In West Afrika, as can be seen in Senegal for instance, HEAVY Traditional Religion is seen. My question then becomes, why the need to vilify Islam with such a wide, extreme and broad stroke? Peace-There seems to be a HEAVY process of vilification of Islam in this article. I am coming to this conversation very late. But having seen the original Tegare in Northern Ghana and the diety Atinga, I can tell you that they are NOT one in the same, and that neither one of this wonderful and strong sumans is an Orisha. There may have been some Akan people that migrated to and now live in Nigeria, but both of these dieties were "born" in Northern Ghana. Greetings. I am coming to this conversation very late. Comment on It takes an African village in S.C. by Cherie Mason http://www.rootsandrooted.org/?p=839&cpage=1#comment-1381 Cherie Mason Mon, 01 Aug 2011 17:52:24 +0000 http://www.rootsandrooted.org/?p=839#comment-1381 Just wondering if the is the African Village I visited in the 70's. It was in Crenshaw, S.C. There were huts, and I remember a house that had no running water or electricity. We had to go to well to pump water. and for some reason I remember a one eyed horse. Also there was someone there who read my palm. I was a just a teenager then. I was traveling with my mom, her boyfriend and my cousin. Is this the same place.
